Red Imported Fire Ants can be found in many settings. They can be found in lawns, parks, pastures and various other places. Fire ants are around 1/8-1/4 inches long and are reddish brown or black in color. Their nests consists of hard dirt mounds. These mounds can be as high as 18-24 inches high.

The small larvae, eggs, and pupae is usually visible on the top of the mound. When their mounds are disturbed, they will swarm and run up the vertical surface to sting. Fire ant stings are painful and will cause itching blisters and a burning sensation.
