The Cat Flea is very small and about 1/8 inch long, they are also wingless. The Cat Flea has piercing/sucking mouth parts. The Cat Flea is able to jump 6 inches straight up and that is due to its well developed legs. Their color is black to reddish brown. Cat fleas undergo a complete metamorphosis. The female will lay four to eight eggs at a time. The eggs will then fall into the host or animals bedding area. The eggs will hatch in about ten days. The Cat flea feeds on blood. They typically seek a blood meal within two days of becoming an adult. Wild animals nesting in structures can initiate indoor flea populations.
